Based on the problematic 'everything is fine' attitude she persists in having in regards to her family dynamic, I have a sinking suspicion that Fuyumi was the sort of kid/teenager who did not actively bully classmates...but was also part of the bully's friend group. You know, the character who feels uncomfortable with the way their toxic friends act but won't speak up or call them out either for fear of isolation or getting the same treatment, so they ignore the problem and hope it goes away.

That seems on brand.

It was a weak move, one that often cost more than it gained, one that made Hermes appear fragile and childish in exchanged for maybe netting an ally. It was a move Athena would hate to make and one their father would never even dream of choosing. But just as Hermes began to regret it, as the silence grew louder and sank its talons into his neck, Apollo just sighed and played up a smile.

“You drive a hard bargain,” he said lightly. “Is that how you always get what you want, you play the sympathy card?”

Hermes laughed and rubbed his shoulder. “Only when I mean it.”

“Aw, well now I feel special.”

“Shut up,” Hermes replied, shoving at his head, before Apollo hooked an arm around his brother’s neck and dragged him into a tight squeeze while the messenger squirmed and punched at his side. “Hey!”

Suddenly, just as Hermes tugged, Apollo let go, sending him flying back with a yelp that burst into laughter. He flew back and knocked against his older brother’s shoulder. “Jerk.”

Smirking easily, Apollo knocked against him in turn. “It’s a just punishment,” he said. “For making me miss out on a manhunt.”

“You’ll get over it,” said Hermes, hoping he believed it.

“Sure, sure, doesn’t mean it’s not annoying.” As he spoke, a beam of light caught in his eye as the sun speared through the trees, the day marching on around them. Steely, he said, “We should head back soon.”

Hermes tilted his head. “You in a rush?”

“You should be,” Apollo said. “How long does it take to get to and from Tartaros anyway? A day? Less than?” Hermes grimaced, confirming the guess, so Apollo continued, “They’ll wonder what’s taking you so long. And why you didn’t grab Uncle Hades’ mail.”

“Shit,” Hermes hissed.

“Right, so, how about this?” Apollo clapped his shoulder. “I head back, draw their attention, you loop around fast as your feet can carry you, and then spin some story about how Kerberos chewed on your head or something.”

Hermes snorted. “That’s your story?”

“Okay, smartass, you come up with the story.”

“I will!” he said, still chuckling.

“Looking forward to it! Now get.”

Hermes rolled his eyes and gave his brother a halfhearted, cheeky salute before dashing off, blinking out of sight in a burst of feathers and a gush of wind.

In the quiet that followed, Apollo released a sigh and shook out his curls. He could just leave. And what would Hermes do about it? Softhearted fool—a perfect liar and far too honest when it mattered. Still, when his skin flushed bright, flesh turning to feathers in a flash of gold and leaving a bronze hawk in its wake, Apollo dutifully flapped his wings and took off towards Olympus.

@ that one previous anon. Dude, no one is offended that Buddie is more popular. Many BT fans used to ship Buddie, are multishippers and/or enjoy BuddieTommy. We side eye you because way too many of you have zero fandom etiquette when it comes to how you interact with the creators and actors to the point where it causes actual harm (I'm deliberately saying too many and not all). We side eye you because too many of you act as if you're entitled to canon Buddie to the point where no one is allowed to talk about anything else. We side eye you because the canon queer relationship and the canon queer character get more hate from you than from actual fucking homophobes. My thoughts on the Sai vs Lily thing that people seem up in arms about.

I'll admit that Sai isn't exactly the nicest person. They use wording that, while I don't agree with, I also don't terribly mind (ie. If you get folded by being called a retard you may not be fit for internet discourse). They aren't some holy deliverer from the tyranny of Lily. WITH ALL THAT SAID-

IN COPYRIGHT STRIKING SAI WITH INTENT TO HAVE HER CHANNEL DELETED, LILY HAS STARED SAI IN THE SOUL AND DEMANDED ALL THE SMOKE...

While YouTube is not Sai's full-time job, it is for Lily. Lily has played her hand and is more than willing to wreck what many would deem their Livelihood of Sai and another YouTuber Anthony G for what started as making fun of her a little and pointing out how much she lies and loses focus. She could have ignored them, but she threatened to delete their channels and is slandering the both of them constantly.

As far as I am concerned, Lily has jumped into the grisly bear pit with a suit made of the finest cuts of venison, completely of her own volition. I will not feel bad if she gets chunks bitten out of her. Sure, I don't 100% agree with the specifics, but if Lily wanted that smoke any harder she'd be on her hands and knees begging for it.

I say let let Sai cook. If one is made to choose I'd rather have the off kilter old lesbian imp than the horror show that is Lily Fucking Orchard.

I really do dunk on villain stans a lot but the thing is like. I genuinely do not care on any sort of moral level if you love a villain, or villains generally. They are pretend. The murder and the war crimes aren't real. Do whatever.

The issue is that like, this is a person the narrative is telling you to root against, and that it's okay because they are pretend. That doesn't mean they can't have sympathetic qualities but it does mean that as a rule the story is telling you "hey, here are the heroes who oppose this person, cheer for them" and also "you should boo and hiss when this motherfucker comes on stage" and a lot of people who like villains will look at everyone else and go "why the FUCK are you booing and hissing don't you see they have TRAUMA" instead of acknowledging the big "TIME TO BOO AND HISS" signs being thrown out by the story and saying "bring it on."

And I suppose you can argue that this is an overly simplistic way of looking at it, but if we're dealing with a story with at least some reasonably clearly delineated heroes and villains you're not intelligent for trying to pretend it's more complicated than it is. I'm not talking about the gray areas of antagonist who could be persuaded otherwise, nor antihero but straight up "this is the bad guy, we all but have arrows pointing at them saying it". Like, really, a lot of people who stan villains don't seem to do it for the love of the game, which I would respect, but because of a sour grapes situation with the heroes, or because they're in their edgy "subversion automatically means you're the smarter one" phase.

Anyway my point is I don't care if you woobify a villain for any sort of moral reasons but I do think that if you do so, you're a coward and not terribly good at understanding stories. I also don't care from any sort of moral standpoint if you enthusiastically cheer on the villain, but if you act confused or mad that most people aren't with you on that, I think you're an idiot and not terribly good at understanding stories.
